Referred to as “The Mile” Galt Ocean mile residents can get to the beach without crossing A1A, and that is not common in Fort Lauderdale. Bought in 1953 by Coral Ridge Properties from Arthur Galt, Galt Ocean Mile is a reflection of architect Charles McKiharan which is still reflected in the area today.
The first building was the Ocean Manor built in 1958. After that, many buildings followed. Remaining as one of the most coveted locations in Fort Lauderdale, the stretch boast about 6,400 units and roughly 15,000 residents. Despite the high concentration of residents in this small area, “the mile” is well manicured and maintained and even though it was an exclusive snow-bird area for many years, Galt Ocean Mile has evolved into a younger and contemporary population. Buildings offer their residents countless amenities and on-going renovations which help preserve the value of the complexes making Galt Ocean mile the place to be right on the sand.
