Named after the Hillsboro Inlet lighthouse and formed in June of 1957, Lighthouse Point was originally a farmland and a mangrove infested area. In 1947, the first home was built in the corner of NE 21st Avenue and Sample Road by Juliette Becker. Since then, the city progressed every year with the first development called Hillsboro Isles. Between the late 50s and 60s, communities like Venetian Isles and Lighthouse Manors were added increasing the population to about 9,500 in the 70s.
With prime location in South Florida, the 2.4 square mile city boast a small town feels, and it wishes to remain that way.
