It is hard to believe that back on the 40s; Coral Ridge was a swap-land. Sunrise Boulevard to Commercial Boulevard, Coral Ridge’s land was purchased by a group of developers from Arthur Galt in 1946 forming Coral Ridge properties, Inc. Immediately after purchase, they started plotting out the land and digging out canals. Homes sold very quickly and the developers bought more land expanding from the north side of Sunrise Boulevard all the way to Oakland Park Boulevard.
Coral Ridge has also evolved from one-story ranch style homes into two-story mansions, new Townhomes many with elevators, and some condominium buildings on the north side of the neighborhood. Residents have also evolved from the original snow-birds to growing families. This is particularly due to the excellent schools on the area and the many family-oriented activities of the area.
The diverse neighborhood is also perfect for boaters with many canals and waterfront home. Many of these are located directly on the intracoastal with the ocean only a few minutes away. Residents of Coral Ridge can also enjoy its close proximity to the Galleria Mall with restaurants, spa, upscale shopping and entertaining just at the south end of Bayview drive. Simply said, Coral Ridge is vibrant, entertaining and exclusive all in one place.
